Meet Our Hygienists
Sidney - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Sidney is a Registered Dental Hygienist of Ontario who graduated from Oxford College of Arts, Business, and Technology in 2007. Sidney joined Unionville Gate Family Dentists as a Registered Dental Hygienist in September of 2007. Sidney loves all aspects of dental hygiene. In 2008, she completed additional schooling in orthodontics at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario. She currently performs hygiene services and orthodontic duties at UGFD. Sidney is registered and licensed to practice with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) and the Ontario Dental Hygienists Association (ODHA) for 8 years. Sidney has also successfully completed the American National Board Dental Hygiene Examination in 2007. Sidney considers work as fun and fulfilling. She is very proactive with continuing education, and attends courses that encompass all aspects of dentistry. Sidney is fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hakka dialect. Sidney lives in Unionville, and often rides her bicycle to work. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and maintaining an active lifestyle on her bicycle, and a little enlightment through simple yoga.
Jen - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Jen graduated from Oxford College in 2010 and shortly after joined the team at Unionville Gate Family Dentists. She in a Registered hygienist with the CDHO and an active member of the CDHA.
Jen participates in continuing education courses yearly to stay up to date, and expand her knowledge. She enjoys working with clients to improve oral health, and set realistic and attainable goals with each individual. Services include teeth cleanings (scaling, polishing, fluoride application), client education, pit and fissure sealants, and whitening. Jen feels that building rapport is so important, and tries to get to know each client that she works with.
In her spare time, Jen enjoys entertaining friends and family, baking, and small time life in Mount Albert with her husband, black lab, and pet chickens.
Shanaaz - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Shanaaz graduated as a registered dental hygienist from Cambrian College in 2001. She joined the team of Unionville Gate Family Dentists in 2004. She enjoys helping her clients achieve their optimum oral health and understand the importance of good oral care.
Her attention to detail, caring, and gentle technique is appreciated by her clients. Shanaaz is a member of a Canadian Dental Hygienist Associations and she believes it is important to consistently increase her dental knowledge through continuing education. Shanaaz loves being a mum to her 3 1/2 year old son and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Julia - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Julia graduated from Canadore College in 2001 as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
She joined the Unionville Gate team in 2003. Julia enjoys the opportunity to help our clients understand why complete oral care is so beneficial to their overall health.
The clients appreciate her gentle and warm technique as well as her attention to detail. Julia is an active member of the Dental Hygiene Associations and maintains her professional knowledge by attending continuing education courses on a regular basis.
Julia is a busy mom of 2 children and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Vivian - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Graduating from the Canadian institute of Dental Hygiene in 2004, Vivian is a Registered Dental Hygienist in Ontario. She is in good standing with the College of Dental Hygiene of Ontario and has been a part of the Ontario Dental Hygienist Association for 10 years.
She has been practicing and implementing dental hygiene at Unionville Gate Family Dentist for 10 years. She continues to actively increase her knowledge base by participating in continuing education courses throughout the year. Her core competencies include assessing, planning and educating clients in their oral health with the objective of achieving good oral health habits.
As a dedicated wife and mother of two young boys, Vivian enjoys reading, painting, cooking, enjoying time at the cottage and spending lots of time with her family.
Michelle - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Michelle graduated from Mott Community College, Michigan in 1997 as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She joined the Unionville Gate Family Dentists team in 2003 and commutes to work from Uxbridge to be part of an energetic, caring team of health-care professionals. With over 18 years of dental hygiene experience Michelle enjoys the opportunity to help teach her regular clients and new clients the importance of oral care to promote overall wellness. With such a vast experience in hygiene therapy, she has always used a warm and friendly approach and takes pride in building relationships and really getting to know her clients personally and professionally. She loves working with her clients on their individual needs to obtain their oral health goals. Her services include complete oral health exams, oral health screenings, scale and root planings (teeth cleanings), oral health education and office whitening procedures. Michelle is an active member of the Dental Hygiene Associations and continuously strives to build her knowledge by attending continuing education courses. In her free time she lives an active lifestyle with 2 little girls, 2 and 7 years old and a wonderful husband. She volunteers her time in her kid’s school and community, enjoys entertaining family and friends and loves camping and road trips with her family.
Marisa - Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
Marisa joined Unionville Gate Family Dentists in 2011 after graduating from the Dental Hygiene Program at The Canadian Academy of Dental Health and Community Sciences. Marisa enjoys getting to know her clients individually to provide high quality dental care in a comfortable and safe environment.
She is dedicated to helping clients maintain good oral health and preventing dental disease as she considers the comfort and health of her clients as her first priority. Marisa’s services include scaling and polishing teeth, applying cavity-prevention agents to the teeth such as fluoride and sealants, as well as providing clients with oral hygiene education.
Marisa continues to further her knowledge through yearly continuing education courses in order to provide clients with the utmost care. In her spare time, Marisa enjoys traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
